Window replacement cost in Dallas–Fort Worth

National cost guides put typical North Texas pricing at roughly $450–$850 per window installed for quality double-pane vinyl. Standard single-hungs and sliders land at the lower end; large, custom and specialty windows cost more. Here's what moves the price, and how to get an exact number for your home.

What affects the price of new windows

Two homes with the same number of windows can get very different quotes. These are the things that move the number, roughly in order of how much they matter.

1. Window size

Bigger windows need more glass and frame, and very large units can take two installers. Our offer covers standard sizes up to 101 united inches (width plus height); larger windows are priced individually.

2. Window style

Windows that open cost more than fixed glass, and styles with cranks, tilt hardware or multiple units cost more again. See cost by window style below, or compare every replacement window style.

3. Glass package

Double-pane Low-E glass is the standard for North Texas. Tempered glass (required near doors, tubs and floors), obscure glass for bathrooms and specialty coatings add cost. Our energy-efficient windows guide explains which glass numbers matter here.

4. Frame color and grids

White vinyl is the most affordable. Exterior colors and decorative grids between the glass add to the price, though many HOAs in Frisco, McKinney and other master-planned communities ask for them.

5. How the window is installed

Most DFW replacements are insert installs: the new window fits into the existing frame opening, with no change to brick or siding. If the old frame is rotted or damaged, a full-frame replacement takes it out to the studs, which adds labor and trim work.

6. Second-story and hard-to-reach windows

Upstairs windows, windows over a roof line and two-story picture windows take more time and safety equipment to replace.

7. How many windows you replace

Every project has fixed costs: measuring, ordering, travel, setup and cleanup. Spread over more windows, the price per window drops. That's why replacing a whole side of the house, or the whole house, is usually better value than one window at a time.

8. Repairs found along the way

Rot around an old frame, damaged trim or water damage behind the window only shows up once the old window is out. A good quote explains how those repairs are priced before work starts.

Cost by window style

Relative installed cost for the same size window. Your exact price depends on size, glass and installation, so use this to compare styles, not as a quote.

Sliding windows$$$ LowerPriced close to single-hung windows of the same size.
Picture windows$$$ LowerLow per square foot of glass; large sizes cost more overall.
Double-hung windows$$$ Mid-rangeA step up from single-hung for the second moving sash and tilt hardware.
Casement windows$$$ Mid-rangeMore than hung windows or sliders, for the crank and hinge hardware.
Awning windows$$$ Mid-rangePriced like casements, since they share the crank hardware.
Bay & bow windows$$$ HigherThe highest-cost style: several windows built and installed as one unit.
Garden windows$$$ HigherA specialty unit, priced above standard windows.
Specialty-shape windows$$$ HigherCustom-built, so priced above standard shapes.

What a fair window quote should include

Whoever you hire, a written quote should spell out:

  • Every window, by room or location, with its measured size and style
  • The exact product line, frame color and glass package
  • The glass's U-factor and SHGC, so you can check them against ENERGY STAR
  • The installation method (insert or full-frame) and how repairs are handled
  • Removal and disposal of the old windows, and cleanup
  • Warranty terms, in writing
  • One all-in price, with any financing terms shown separately

That's how we write every Prime quote, and why customers mention our honest, no-pressure estimates.

Red flags when comparing quotes

  • "Sign today" discounts. A price that's only good if you sign before the consultant leaves is a pressure tactic.
  • Inflated list prices. A huge "regular price" with a big discount makes any number look like a deal. Compare the final price per window.
  • No written, itemized price. If it isn't on paper, it isn't a quote.
  • Vague product details. "Energy-efficient glass" without a U-factor and SHGC tells you nothing.

Ways to keep the cost down

  • Replace windows in one project rather than one or two at a time.
  • Choose single-hung or sliding windows where you don't need the features of pricier styles.
  • Stick with white frames unless your HOA or design calls for color.
  • Prioritize west- and south-facing windows first if you're replacing in phases.
  • Ask about financing to spread the cost into monthly payments.

How much does it cost to replace one window?

National cost guides put a typical double-pane vinyl window at roughly $450–$850 installed in North Texas. A single window usually costs more per window than a full project, because the trip, setup and cleanup are spread over fewer windows. We're happy to quote one window or thirty.

Is it cheaper to replace all my windows at once?

Usually, yes, per window. Measuring, ordering and installing in one project spreads those fixed costs across every window, which is why our offer prices 10 windows together.

Does homeowners insurance pay for hail-damaged windows?

Sometimes. It depends on your policy, your deductible and the damage. Take photos, call your insurer, and we'll give you a detailed written estimate to share with your adjuster.

Can I finance new windows?

Yes. Flexible financing is available for qualified homeowners, subject to credit approval. Your consultant can walk you through current terms at your free estimate.

Do you charge for an estimate?

No. The in-home estimate is free, and you get a written, all-in price with no obligation. Book it online in about a minute.
